In ancient times, a rock was a hiding place from the enemy. The beauty of Jesus Christ is that He is the Eternal Rock on whom we can safely trust. No matter what life throws at us, He has the stamina to keep us safe and secure. Psalm 94:22, 1 Corinthians 10:4, Acts 4:11, 1 Peter 2:6.
The way life is, we are bound to face difficulties and changes; some expected, many unexpected. Daily activities such as work, business, studies and family life can drain us – deadlines, financial constraints, child care, difficult teenage children and marital issues. Other long term challenges – disabilities, ill-health and the loss of property and loved ones – which can become overwhelming like a flood. Persecution may arise because of our biblical stand. We may have moments when even our best friends and loved ones fail us, misunderstand us and judge us harshly. This happened to Job. It was devastating. However, at a point in his trials, he confessed, “I know that my Redeemer lives.” – Job 19:25.
We too must come to that point where we know that our Redeemer lives and ever makes intercessions for us. Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 4:16. We can come to Him at such, and indeed, all times, to draw strength and be refreshed. He is our Refuge, the Rock in Whom we hide. We are safe in the hollow of His hands as He walks with us in the midst of the storms of life.
They all drank the same holy drink. They drank from a holy Rock that went along with them. That holy Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4
When all else fails, Christ still prevails.
