Introduction
Life! Mmmmmmmm. In recent times there’s been quite a few disasters in different parts of the world; hurricanes, floods and fires. There’s been previously terror attacks and continual wars. The news is replete with gloomy reports which sometimes leave us overwhelmed at the nature of life in our world. We also face personal woes and tragedies from time to time; loss of work, business, friends or family, illness, loneliness and misunderstanding. What do all the crises in our world and personal lives portend? Where is God in all these?
Implication
All that is happening around us are signs. God is speaking to our lives and the world in different ways. God created a beautiful and safe world which we lost through sin and rebellion. (Genesis 3).The whole world has sinned and lost God’s glory (Romans 3). Nebuchadnezzar’s image of gold, money, in contemporary times, demands us all to bow. (Daniel 3) Paul predicted by the power of the Holy Spirit of God that things would get worse and worse as the last days approach. (2 Timothy 3). Apostle Peter also warned of impending doom. (2 Peter 3).
Invitation
In His love and foresight, God planned redemption through Jesus Christ (John 3). He commands everyone everywhere to repent so we can have a full restoration and a time of refreshing when the curse of The Fall would be completely removed. (Acts 3) Jesus is patiently knocking at the door of our hearts now, before it’s too late. We can let Him in and begin to walk with Him from now till He returns to take us home where all crises would cease forever. (Revelation 3) Will you let Him in?
In conclusion …
11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. 13 But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.
14 And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.
15 And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved.
