“Abram said to his wife, Sarai, “Look, you are a very beautiful woman.” (Genesis 12:11b). The Bible draws attention to strikingly beautiful women (e.g. Job 42:5) in two ways – those associated with:
1. Virginity and purity (Genesis 24:16), the inner beauty of gentleness, quietness, submission to husbands, modesty, piety and good works (1 Peter 3:1-6, 1 Timothy 2:9-10) and God-honouring romantic attraction and love (Song of Solomon 1:15-16, 4:7).
2. Deception, temporariness (Proverbs 31:30), foolishness or indiscretion (Proverbs 11:22) and danger and destruction (Proverbs 7).
